The vendors don't even need to tell you that you'll get to look like that girl or guy -- they already know your subconscious will assume it will happen. When you're anxious to take off fat, this is a simple game for the fitness industry to play.

When we were children, we were all taught that we could do anything we wanted to do when we grew up. Your parents may have even told you that you can attain anything you yearn if you just believe in it strongly enough. I know mine did.

While this can supply enormous inspiration in life's pursuits, it can also be used against you by others, and without your knowledge. You are mostly a product of your genetics. Just as Richard Simmons could never play in the NHL, a guy like Woody Allen could never win a heavyweight bodybuilding competition.

The truth is that they can lose fat and get in the best shape of their life, but their genetics determine much of what we look like when in that best shape. But this isn't what the fitness gurus will typically tell you -- they need you thinking that anyone can look like a genetic freak of nature... if you just follow their plans, that is.

Now, I am not saying you are doomed by your genes. Everyone can make surprising improvements in their physiques with proper exercise and nutrition habits. It's when we start comparing ourselves to the gals and guys in the magazines that we get into problems, and get lost in that continuing circle of sensationalism and hype all too prevalent in fitness and fat burning nowadays.

As I mentioned before, you've got a life. You're a busy person. We all are. We live in a fast-paced society, we're in the information age, where we have so many things to do and so little time to complete them. I don't know about you, but I notice myself attempting to stuff everything I do into those few hours between getting up and going to sleep. It's not easy.

Then come along the fitness gurus telling you that to burn fat and get in great shape you've got to work out every day or close to it. You need to do aerobics or cardiovascular exercise to burn fat, many times a week. You've got to get on the weight machines several more days a week, so that you are literally working out 5 to 6 days a week. If you want it, you've got to do it, so they say.

I'm here to tell you that this isn't so! Many of these plans also will tell you that you've got to stick to some crazy diet to burn fat. This might include cutting all or most of your carbohydrates, ingesting loads of supplements or other magical weight loss potions. Then, when their programs don't deliver, they'll tell you that everyone is different and that you've got to find what works right for you. Wait a minute -- weren't they just telling you that their program promises the body in the infomercial?

What they are doing is keeping you in that fitness insanity that I described earlier. They keep you doing the same thing (trying the next hot product or workout and diet regimen) and promising the same super fat burning results. If it doesn't work, they recommend the next latest and greatest thing. And too many people go on to that next miracle product or promise and the fitness business uses this to their benefit!

Unfortunately the fitness industry, in many ways, has become a cycle of hype and sensationalism. Sure, there are some good-hearted trainers and professionals out there, but even some of them are being controlled by the gym owners, magazine publishers, and vitamin companies. That's where the money is! Even if they are attempting to help you, they can become unwitting victims to the system.

They advertise their plans, products, and diets by showing the cream of the crop in the genetic gene pool. Hey, if it worked for that guy or gal with the fantastic figure or build, it will work for me. I fell for it, also, many times, until I did some major research and experimentation as I mentioned before.

Finally, I awakened and discovered for myself the strategies that few people are aware of. Secrets that will never dominate the fitness industry's general recommendations because they are unpopular with the people that control the industry. Why?

Because these techniques of mine won't sell lots of silly exercise gimmicks, gadgets, or magical potions. As a member of a popular fitness center for a few years, I noticed numerous others frustrated with their fat loss exercise routines and eating practices, working so hard and long but with virtually no improvement to show for it.

Several of my own friends and relatives would bring up this new plan or product they had just shelled out cash for that was going to be the key to their fat loss and health goals. They were so excited about it and couldn't wait to get started.

Then, several weeks later, the same happy-go-lucky people that were once so jazzed about their new plan to reduce fat and get a new body were thoroughly depressed. It was difficult to watch.

I'd ask them how their fat burning strategy was working and they'd reveal to me that it seemed fairly good at first, but they didn't get the improvement they felt were promised. They rapidly became tired of following the daily workouts and discovered that following the harsh eating rules frustrating at times. So they hopped onto the next program.

Even worse, they became so aggravated with following these exercise trainers' plans, that they fell even deeper into unhealthy eating habits once they ceased the program. Stuffing became their only form of satisfaction. That's the wrong way away from maximum fat burning.

What's worse is that these people were following the typically recommended exercise and fad diets that were so popular. They were doing what everyone else was trying to burn fat fast.

After talking with many of these friends and inquiring about their exercise routines, I noticed one common premise that kept surfacing in our talks... they were focused on the short term... their approach was wrong. They weren't thinking of lifelong health and fitness, but instead they were thinking about losing fat and getting in shape for a wedding or "swimsuit season".

More specifically, they were also performing their exercise in a less than optimal manner. And then I noticed this with many others at the fitness center I worked out in. But you know, you can almost not fault them, and you absolutely shouldn't blame yourself if you've fallen into the cycle of fad exercise and diet plans. We all aspire to achieve what we know in our hearts we're capable of so badly, and that's why we're such easy victims of this "get fit quick" approach.

Most people are approaching fitness and health in the completely opposite way that they should, and they're not going to burn fat because of it. If you persist in thinking of using exercise and nutrition as ways to lose a few pounds, or to get in shape for summer or a wedding, you're going to be disappointed with your results.

If you think of exercise, nutrition, and rest as unrelated things, you're going to be dissatisfied with your fat burning and fitness results. If you think you have to spend hours a week in the fitness center or follow some strange weird eating strategy, you're going to be disillusioned with your results.

What all of these old approaches will do, is put you into the fitness and fat burning cycle of uncertainty that so many are stuck in these days. If instead, you choose to forget what you thought you knew, and start off with the proper method, the strategy that concentrates on making changes in your daily life permanently, you'll instantly improve your results by an order of magnitude.

Keep in mind, that as with anything, you will see more negatives than favorable reviews, because those with negative experiences are more prone to find fault. So look to see if any disapproving remarks appear levelheaded, or are they just from losers (men) who are penniless, or (gals) who are overweight, unattractive, with a litter of monster kids at home.

2. Give your date your cellphone number for a contact number

Provide your date with your cell-phone telephone number instead of your home or work telephone number. That will greatly reduce problems if the date doesn't go well.

3. Meet in a public place.

Don't have your date pick you up at your apartment or home. Acceptable locations for rendezvousing on a first date include coffee shops, coffee bars, and restaurants. Those places are easy to meet at and there are other people around.

4. Let somebody else about your date itinerary.

Always disclose your first date itinerary with a family member or close friend.

5. Provide your own transportation.

Arrive at your date location with your own car, or by taxi, and be prepared to leave in the same way. Have enough gasoline in your car's gas tank or enough money for taxi fare in addition to your other possible expenses for the date, which leads to the next point...

7. Set a limit for your drinking.

Remember that too much drinking will affect your judgment. So limit your drinking to a couple of drinks or one or two glasses of wine. Maybe an even better plan is to pass on alcohol completely, on your first date.

8. Listen to your intuition

If you feel uneasy at the beginning of the date after you first meet, you may as well call it off and leave. And, assuming you do hit it off, bear in mind to continue to be observant.
